Training Services

RAFS provides training related to safety and tank farm management for organizations throughout rural Alaska. Our instructors are certified in their specialties and bring years of experience in tank farm management, safety and fuel issues.

Our core commitment is to rural Alaska. We believe it is more effective to bring training to a community than it is to bring students to Anchorage for training. Therefore, nearly all our courses have been taught in Bush communities. This allows us to reach more people at a lower cost and to address specific issues in each village.

Power Cost Equalization (PCE)

The PCE Program goal is to attempt to equalize the high costs of electricity in rural communities with the lower costs in more urban areas. Communities in areas that are not served by road experience very high costs of producing electricity, usually by diesel, due to high transportation costs and high diesel prices. These high costs must be recovered from the limited number of customers with limited disposable income associated with generally low economic development.

PCE is the core element to ensure the financial viability of centralized power generation in rural communities.
